For Palo Alto natives and Stanford alumnae alike, the Wilbur
name may be familiar. Dr. Ray Lyman
Wilbur, the third president of Stanford University, is the grandfather of
Wilbur Properties’ founder, Ray Lyman Wilbur, III. Ray Lyman Wilbur served as president of the
American Medical Association, and later became Secretary of the Interior under
President Herbert Hoover.
Ray Lyman Wilbur’s son Blake Wilbur followed in his father’s
footsteps, and became a doctor--one of the leading surgeons on the Peninsula. Blake served as a professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine and is famous for his role as one of the six founding doctors of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. He is
memorialized by the Blake Wilbur building, part of Stanford Hospital on Blake
The Wilbur family is an established Palo Alto family. Having been here for generations, the Wilbur's
possess generations of knowledge about both the history of Palo Alto and the
local real estate market.
